Welcome to photography by Julie Hancock

Thank you for looking at my site.

My love of Photography, started at a very young age, when I bought my first film camera, a Zenith EM (which was built like a tank). I built a family archive whilst growing up. One of my first jobs was working as a photographic printer, for a professional lab which lasted for seventeen years, Until I decided to leave to enter higher education . After working very hard for two years full time. I qualified with a Btec National Diploma (triple distinction) in photography at Bridgend College.

I have taken part in exhibitions in local libraries and college end of year shows. After going back to the college as a voluntary worker in the photography department for a number of years and gained more experience and knowledge. I am now employed by the college part-time as Technical Support to both degree and further education.
I provide media to photo libraries including historical pictures of Wales and its landscapes for a number of years. Also covering events, such as black tie charity dinners and presentation nights for Pencoed R.F.C. I have taken official photographs of International ref Nigel Owens who reffed our under 12s ,Dan Lydiate, Charlotte Church, Gavin Henson, Gareth Thomas, Brent Cockbain, Gareth Cooper, Rick 0`Shea and Paul Thornburn, Phil Steels ,Dragons coach,Kingsley Jones, Martyn Williams and Wayne Hall as well as being Pencoed`s publicity officer for its Events since 2004.And have provided Pencoed Cricket and Cern Cribwr F.C with their game pictures for newspapers . I have provided the WRU Womens sections of game and training pictures with Coach Rowland Phillips for their website. As well as providing studio photographs to Wilsons Auctions for Government goods.

I also provide the local newspapers and monthly magazines with reports and photographs of different sporting events around the borough. And my rugby pictures have been published in Rugby World and Rugby Club Magazines, London Sport Gazette and also Gilbert Rugby. I have taken pictures of Rugby League , Union and American Football. And this year I had the opportunity to get to the Millennium Stadium Cardiff to cover a rugby game and even walked on the hallowed turf!
My love for black and white photography and the darkroom, especially in portraits has lasted a lifetime and still excites me today, and I still enjoy using it. Although I have moved to digital techniques, I still enjoy putting a film in my Rolleiflex and 35mm film camera and processing it. Heaven!

Thanks Julie
